ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

  1. Perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of assigned areas using designated chemicals, detergents and equipment to complete the tasks given.
  1. Must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning and disposing of blood, bodily fluids or infectious materials in accordance with the OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard and the agency's Exposure Control Plan for Blood-borne Pathogens.
  1. Tasks will include, but not be limited to: emptying garbage receptacles and replacing liners (inside and outside), mopping, sweeping and vacuuming floors, spot cleaning carpet when necessary, spray buffing tile floors monthly, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms including toilets, sinks, mirrors, light switches, door handles, soap dispensers, paper towel dispersers, toilet paper dispensers, sanitary bag holders and wall dividers, dusting furniture and exposed surfaces, cleaning walls, cleaning entrance ways including door glass, cleaning wash stations and emergency eye washes, washing windows and cleaning window sills and baseboards.
  1. Clean sinks, countertops, tabletops, microwaves, water coolers, coffee stations and refrigerators in break rooms and offices.
  1. Restocking supplies in bathrooms, break rooms and common areas including soap, toilet paper, paper towels, sanitary bags etc.
  1. Cleaning areas will include but are not limited to: bathrooms, corridors and entryways (inside and out), break rooms and kitchens, offices, conference rooms, copy rooms, team rooms, shop floors.
  1. Maintain supply closet in a clean, organized and safe manner.
  1. Maintain equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition. Report any damage or broken equipment to supervisor. Report any safety issues immediately.
  1. Maintain appropriate communication with supervisor and site contact person regarding cleaning assignments.
  1. This position requires a two week notice of voluntary resignation.


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

High School Diploma, GED or CNA is required. 


To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies: Sound decision making and judgment, interpersonal skills, planning/organizing, strategic thinking, time management and delegating. The ability to work independently in multiple settings.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to accurately write reports/correspondence and good verbal communication skills.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar or line graphs. Ability to tell time.


Ability to use a computer software program to punch in and out and request time off.


Successful completion of all required agency training. Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and have reliable vehicle to commute between multiple work locations.

  2. Moderate noise; 75-90% of work is performed indoors, 10-25% outdoors.

  6. Must clean up human waste and other body fluids as required.
  7. Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule including overtime.
