Driver / Production Worker

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides transportation daily for assigned routes using an agency vehicle.
  2. Drive obeying all New York State traffic laws. Report any traffic violations immediately to supervisor and Human Resources. Report vehicle equipment problems to supervisor.
  3. In the event of an accident, ensure that established emergency procedures are followed, complete a written accident report as required.
  4. Keep vehicles clean inside and out, take vehicles for services as needed, perform routine vehicle maintenance as needed.
  5. Ensures the safety and well-being of passengers being transported to and from destination. Provide physical assistance, as necessary.
  6. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, completes vehicle logs, ensures agency vehicles have sufficient fuel levels.
  7. Keep the Directors and Managers informed about any concerns involving agency vehicles.
  8. Follow Agency safety rules and adhere to OSHA guidelines for safety.
  9. Assist with monitoring work quality and productivity of trainees, complete production paperwork.
  10. Work on production lines, running production equipment and machinery.
  11. Package, label, palletize, stretch wrap, and weigh finished products.
  12. Communicate with the warehouse regarding inventory levels of raw materials, rejects, and finished goods.
  13. Assist in the warehouse, moving materials, loading and unloading trucks, and making deliveries or pickups.
  14. Assist in establishing piece rate methods, participate in time studies, and implement fair and equitable piece rate counts or all trainees, following DOL regulations.
  15. Interact with all people supported in a way that respects their ages, regardless of any physical, intellectual, or behavioral disability.
  16. Carry out all assigned and required cleaning and maintenance of the building, equipment, grounds, and vehicles.
  17. Maintain a clean, organized work and production environment.
  18. Assure that safety devices are in good working order and that safety procedures are being followed.
  19. Review all logs, notes, and records at the beginning of and during each shift.
  20. Assure security of all confidential files and information on customers and individuals we support.
  21. Accurately use Agency email and assigned software.
  22. Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as required.
  23. Bring other concerns that may arise to the attention of your immediate supervisor; follow 'chain of command' thereafter.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned.
  25. This position requires a two-week notice of voluntary resignation.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED, preferred.

REASONING SKILLS

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies: Sound decision making and judgment, planning/organizing, and time management skills. Must be able to work independently. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Must have the ability to communicate with others verbally and in written form.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, ability to read a scale.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be able to use an electronic system to punch in and out each day, use of other Agency assigned software such as Office 365.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Successful completion and maintenance of CPR/First Aid. May be certified in the use of a forklift.

  1. Physically able to bend/stoop, squat, push/pull, reach above/below shoulder level frequently.
  2. Must be able to independently lift and/or transfer, push or pull up to 50 lbs. No lifting restrictions.
  3. Must have adequate vision, speaking and hearing ability, with or without correction, to be constantly operate machinery.
  4. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  5. Must have the ability to ambulate; reach with hands and arms.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, dust, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and required for certain applications.

The rate of pay for this position starts at an annual salary of $37,400.00 based on $18.00/hour (or more depending on experience).
